​Anu​ ​Naik​

Born​ ​in​ ​1943,​ ​Anu​ ​Naik​ ​completed​ ​a​ ​diploma​ in​ ​Fine​ Arts​ from​ Sir​ J.J.​ School​ of ​ ​Arts,​ Mumbai ​ in​ ​ 1964.​​ She​ is​ considered​ to​ be​ one of​ the​ ​finest painters​ of​ traditional​ Indian Paintings.​ ​Her​ ​medium​ ​for​ ​her​ ​works​ ​is​ ​oil​ ​on​ ​canvas. The ​ artist​ has​​ always​​ ​admired the​ human​ ​form​ ​and​ has​ ​​a​ ​special​ knack​ ​for​ ​painting​​ ​the rustic ​rural​ life​ of​ ​India.​ ​She​ ​finds ​it​ ​extremely interesting to​ capture​ ​ moods​ and​ movements​ of ​ her​ subjects​ and​ she​ goes​ far​​ beyond​ what​ ​is​ usually​ ​evident. Her​ use​ of ​muted​ ​​colors along ​with​ her​​ use​ of ​typical​​ ​Indian​ ​traditional​ ​colors​ ​in​ ​her​ ​palettes ​adds ​to​ ​the​ beauty​​ ​of​ ​her paintings, ​which​clearly​ ​ reflect​ Indian​ traditions​ and ​culture. Her​ figurative​ ​compositions​ ​are​ ​a paean ​to​ contemplative​ and​ serene​ prose.​ She​ ​has​ ​had​ ​exhibitions​ ​in​ ​New​ ​Delhi,​ ​Mumbai,​ ​Bangalore,​ ​Kolkata,​ ​Breman​ ​(Germany), London, ​ ​Spain,​ ​Bhutan,​ ​Norway​ ​and​ ​Sweden.

Dilip Shyam

Raised in Patangarh, Madhya Pradesh, Dilip Shyam is famed for his depictions of nature in the style of Gond art. His paternal uncle, the renowned Gondi painter Jangarh Singh Shyam, encouraged him to take up painting and follow his passion. He left for Bhopal after finishing school, and struggled to make ends meet. Some of his paintings are displayed at the Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Manav Sangrahalaya. He was awarded the Jangarh Singh Shyam Award in 2008.

Jivya Soma Mashe

One of the most widely recognised names and the recipient of the Padma Shri in the tradition of the Warli style, Jivya Soma Mashe was born in Maharashtra, India. The artist has been featured in several publications, including "The Warlis: Tribal Paintings and Legends" by Chemould Publications, and "The Painted World of the Warlis", by Yashodhara Dalmia. He lives and works in Dahanu, Maharashtra.

Laxman Aelay

Hyderabad based award winning artist, Laxman Aelay, has participated in several important exhibitions and also represented the country in an international exposition organised by TAANA in Chicago, USA in 1995. His source of inspiration has been the live of the poverty stricken people from his village he grew up amongst - Kadirenigudem.

MF Husain

Maqbool Fida Husain was one of the most famous artists of India, known all over the world for his amazing paintings that he created during his lifetime. So huge is the popularity of his paintings that M. F. Husain was called the 'Picasso of India' by the Forbes magazine. Husain was largely responsible in modernizing Indian art as he was one of the most influential founding members of Bombay Progressive Artists' Group. During the course of his splendid career, Husain also tried his hand at printmaking, photography and filmmaking.

Paramesh Paul

A life time member of The Bombay Art Society, Mumbai, Paramesh Paul is touching the core reality to expound a spiritual sensibility bordering round traditional religious feelings. Water appears as a dominant theme in these paintings here, especially the river Ganges. The artist produces textual effects on the paintings using the palate knife and brush. His compositions are done of a slight 3D edge.

Ramesh Gorjala is a talented artist who paints Indian mythological figures and themes with detail and sensitivity. For him myth seems to be unfold into endless narratives and emerges into the forms of Hanuman, Vishnu or Buddha often symbolic of protection and heroism.

Shyamal Mukherjee

Shyamal Mukherjee from Bengal uses reverse oil or acrylic painting on transparent acrylic sheets in the Bengal School figurative tradition. His inspiration comes from observing people while he travels extensively in Bengal. Dressed in the bright, gaudy colours, the figures relate their story of daily Bengal interaction as they group together.

A self-professed artist, Somenath Maity, lives and works in Gopalpur, West Bengal. The colors and textures the artist uses in his artwork are strong, bring to the forefront the life of the urban sprawls and investing them with a force that works beyond the life of their inhabitants, keeping them ticking no matter who comes or goes.

Subrata Das

Subrata Das's works are a poetic representation on Indian Mythological forms, skillfully rendered. His present works representing the divine love of Radha and Krishna, are traditional in subject yet contemporary in his use technique.

Sujata Achrekar

Working primarily with ink on canvas, Umakant Kanade's paintings usually depict elements of nature in their most bare and basic form. He works hard to bring out the texture of each rock or bird that he portrays through minute strokes. He admits that stones too depict sensitivity and are part of life seeing the colourful world of black and white.

Ved Prakash Bhardwaj

A self-taught artist, art writer and curator, Ved Prakash Bhardwaj, is honoured with many awards in art and publication. Being an abstract painter, “he believes that there is nothing abstract in a painting as every abstraction is based on figures that are created by Nature and we can only re-create whatever we see in our life by simplifying the real forms.”

Venkat Shyam

Venkat Shyam, a renowned Gond artist felicitated with Rajya Hasta Shilpa Puraskar (award) by the Madhya Pradesh Government in 2002. He has been sketching and painting since he was seven years old. Venkat has integrated both modern and traditional stylistic influences in his work. He is a contemporary gond artist and also works with murals, etchings, mixed media and animation. He uses brushes and special pens to draw, and water, oil and acrylic mediums as colours.

Vikash Kalra

A self-taught artist, Vikash Kalra freely explores the ideas intrinsic to the work of those who inspire him. But like some of these masters, once a brush a pen or palette is in his hand, he begins his performance working at speed and with fluidity as he starts his journeys, throwing out images of things seen or glimpsed and spilling them onto the canvas.
