Raised in Patangarh, Madhya Pradesh, Dilip Shyam is famed for his depictions of nature in the style of Gond art. His paternal uncle, the renowned Gondi painter Jangarh Singh Shyam, encouraged him to take up painting and follow his passion. He was awarded the Jangarh Singh Shyam Award in 2008.
